Concentration:

Mr. Ivey is a labor and employment litigator and his primary practice area consists of representing management in all types of employment disputes.  Mr. Ivey has conducted anti-harassment training and has advised clients on various employment issues.  Additionally, he has tried cases in Federal and State Courts and before state administrative bodies.  Mr. Ivey served as an Administrative Law Judge for the State Health Planning and Development Agency, from 2003-2006. 


Representative Cases:

  • Tried 13 plaintiff race discrimination lawsuits in Middle District of Alabama and obtained a defense verdict.
  • Tried fraud and breach of contract lawsuit in Montgomery County Circuit Court. 
  • Defended a State Agency during an evidentiary hearing contesting termination.
  • Tried fraud and breach of contract lawsuit in Lowndes County Circuit Court.  Jury found for plaintiffs.  Represented company during appeal phase and Alabama Supreme Court reversed and remanded.
  • Tried worker’s comp retaliation lawsuit in Montgomery County Circuit Court

Prior To Maynard Cooper:

Mr. Ivey practiced law in Montgomery, Alabama at Capell and Howard, P. C.  For a three month period in 2002, Mr. Ivey served as one of Montgomery County’s Temporary Probate Judges. Mr. Ivey has also served as counsel to the Alabama House of Representatives Public Safety Committee, where he reviewed proposed legislation. Additionally, Mr. Ivey was very involved in the Montgomery County Bar Association. He served on the Board of Directors for three years, served as its Secretary/Treasurer and Chaired its Grievance Committee.  In 2004, The Montgomery Advertiser selected Mr. Ivey as one of Montgomery's “Leading 20 Under 40.”


Outside the Office:

Mr. Ivey enjoys playing golf and is a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.
