David is a Shareholder and member of the Labor & Employment practice at Maynard Cooper. He also serves on the firm’s Executive Committee.
David has more than 20 years of experience as an attorney in the labor and employment space. During that time he has served as counsel and advisor to some of North Alabama’s largest private employers. He serves the full range of his clients’ employment law needs, including advising clients on various employment policies, employee discipline and termination, harassment training, reductions in force and wage and hour issues.
His primary goal is to work with employers to keep them out of the courtroom. When a trial is necessary or inevitable, David defends his clients with the benefit of experience gained from trying many cases in federal and state courts.
Defense and Technology
David is closely aligned with the Government Contracts & Bid Protests and Intellectual Property & Technology practices at Maynard Cooper and assists national defense and government contractors, as well as Huntsville-based clients tied to the defense and tech industries, with employment matters. He also advises Huntsville-based clients on labor and employment issues in states beyond Alabama.
Serious Workplace Injuries
David also has experience in several areas related to catastrophic injuries in the workplace. This experience includes defending worker’s comp death cases, co-employee claims, premises liability for owners and employers, as well as defending OSHA claims.
He is rated AV Preeminent by Martindale-Hubbell and is listed in both The Best Lawyers in America and Alabama Super Lawyers.
David received his J.D. from the University of Alabama School of Law and holds a B.A. from the University of Texas.
