M.V. is an Associate in the firm’s Corporate, Securities, and Tax Practice Group and is a member of several related practice teams, including General Corporate, Family Business, Mergers & Acquisitions, and Securities Regulation & Corporate Finance.
Prior to joining Maynard Cooper, M.V. worked as a summer associate with the firm for two summers and spent one summer in the Richmond, Virginia office of an international law firm. During this time, M.V. gained valuable experience in general corporate, M&A, and specialized regulatory practices, including securities and banking.
Prior to attending law school, M.V. served for three years on the staff of the Honorable Richard C. Shelby, senior U.S. Senator for Alabama and three-term Chairman of the Senate Committee on Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs. During his time on Capitol Hill, M.V. managed an expansive policy portfolio for Senator Shelby covering many issues, including economic development, tax, and trade.
M.V. received his J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law, where he served as Articles Editor of the Virginia Law & Business Review and participated in the John W. Glynn, Jr. Law & Business Program. M.V. received his B.S. in Economics with a minor in Spanish, summa cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa, from Auburn University. M.V. also completed a Spanish Language and Cultural Studies program at the University of Salamanca in Salamanca, Spain during the summer of 2009.
