FIRM ACCOMPLISHMENTS

Our firm strongly supports lawyer participation in bar associations and professional activities. One of our shareholders is the current President-elect of the 400,000 member American Bar Association; he is only the third lawyer from Alabama to ever hold this prestigious position.  One of the other two lawyers from Alabama to be President of the ABA is also one of Maynard Cooper's founding shareholders.  Another firm member is the immediate past Chair of the ABA's House of Delegates, the ABA's second highest office, and three of our attorneys have served as Chair of the ABA's Litigation Section.

At the state and local level, our attorneys include a former Chief Justice of the Alabama Supreme Court and a Special Counsel to the former Governor of Alabama.  Another Maynard Cooper shareholder is the immediate past-President of the Alabama Bar Association and another is the current President of the Birmingham Bar Association.  Other Maynard Cooper attorneys have been elected President of both the Birmingham Bar Association and the Alabama Bar Association's Young Lawyer's Section.  Maynard Cooper attorneys have also served on the American Judicature Society's Board of Directors, Rand Institute for Civil Justice Board of Overseers, and as Chair of several Sections of the Alabama State Bar, including Antitrust, Environmental, Labor & Employment and Workers Compensation.  We also participate in political activities for a variety of candidates and elected officials on a local and statewide level.

In addition, Maynard Cooper lawyers have been recognized in various publications for their expertise in their area of practice.  In Chambers USA 2007, America's Leading Lawyers for Business, Maynard Cooper is listed as a leading law firm in Alabama in all five rated categories: Banking & Finance, Corporate/Commercial, Employment, Litigation and Real Estate.  In addition, Maynard Cooper has twelve lawyers touted in Chambers USA 2007 as leaders in these areas of practice.  In Best Lawyers in America® 2008, Maynard Cooper has fifty lawyers noted for their legal excellence in their areas of practice, and four of the firm's practice areas are ranked #1 in Alabama.
