Firm Sustainability Policy
Maynard Cooper is committed to promoting and investing in sustainability in the
workplace. The firm's sustainability policy was born out of our greater
awareness of the importance of operating our business in an environmentally
responsible and sustainable way; in other words, to operate in a way that
"meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future
generations to meet their own needs." A copy of our sustainability policy and
associated best office management practices is available by

Firm Sustainability Initiatives
In developing the firm's sustainability policy, we examined our current office
management practices to identify areas where we can operate in a more
sustainable way. As part of the policy, the firm's Birmingham headquarters has
adopted the following practices:
-
Paper Recycling: We have begun recycling all office paper and file folders, and
have partnered with United Cerebral Palsy's Gone for Good program to assist us
with our recycling program.
-
Paper Use Reduction: We encourage double-sided documents whenever possible and
have set the default on all of our copy machines to print double-sided copies.
-
Recycled Content: We have switched to using office paper that is made from 30%
post-consumer recycled content, and will continue to purchase other office
supplies made with recycled content whenever possible.
-
Green Power: We have purchased Renewable Energy Certificates from a Green-e
certified renewable energy provider in an effort to support the emerging field
of renewable energy resources and diminish the need for power generated from
nonrenewable resources.
-
Energy Efficiency: We are taking steps to reduce the firm's overall energy
consumption by appropriately managing lighting systems, our information
technology infrastructure, and other electronic equipment.
In recognition of its efforts, the Birmingham headquarters has been named a
Law
Office Climate Challenge Partner by the American Bar Association. In addition,
the Birmingham office is now a participating member of the following U.S.
Environmental Protection Agency programs:
