Edward is an Associate in Maynard Cooper’s Governmental & Regulatory Affairs group where he has an active practice handling complex state and federal legislative and political matters for a wide range of clients.
Prior to joining Maynard Cooper, Edward worked on several campaigns for the United States House of Representatives and as a Congressional Fellow on Capitol Hill. During law school, Edward worked in the legal office of the Governor of Alabama. While Edward’s legal practice at Maynard Cooper is focused on ethics, election, and campaign finance laws, he is also involved directly in Alabama’s legislative and rulemaking processes on behalf of the his clients, including businesses and nonprofits ranging from startups to Fortune 500 companies. He brings his experience working in governmental and political settings to bear when providing counsel and advice to clients on a wide range of matters, including legislation, regulatory compliance, economic development initiatives, and state appropriations.
Edward also has significant experience as a legal consultant to political campaigns in Alabama and has developed a particular expertise in both state and federal campaign finance laws. He also advises clients on the development of effective internal compliance programs relating to trade, ethics, and political activity.
Edward is a magna cum laude graduate of University of Alabama School of Law with a Certificate in Governmental Affairs. He was an Articles Editor for the Alabama Law Review, won the Campbell Moot Court Competition as well as the award for writing the best brief in the competition, and served as an Associate Justice on the School of Law Honor Court. He received a B.A. in Classics from Brown University.
