John focuses his corporate practice on the representation of middle-market private companies through all aspects of their business transactions, with a particular emphasis on deals involving mergers, acquisitions, and joint ventures. He has experience advising companies regarding incentive compensation for key employees and other matters related to benefit and executive compensation plans, especially with respect to such issues as they arise during negotiations. John also regularly counsels companies in a variety of corporate and securities law matters, including entity formation, corporate restructuring strategies, corporate governance counseling, private equity and debt financings, and SEC compliance.
A member of Maynard Cooper’s Mergers & Acquisitions practice group, John works with clients spanning a broad range of industry sectors, having a specific concentration on businesses operating in the technology, manufacturing, government contracting, and private equity markets.
John earned his J.D. summa cum laude from the University of Mississippi School of Law, where he served on the Mississippi Law Journal, received the Order of the Barristers distinction, and was a two-time national champion (2015 & 2016) of the Pace National Environmental Law Moot Court Competition. He holds a B.A. in Political Science from The University of Alabama. He is a member of the Huntsville campus of the Church of the Highlands.
