Brad Wood represented Maynard & Gale in the Birmingham Business Journal’s Mergers & Acquisitions Table of Experts which was published in the July 15th issue of the Journal. Brad and the other participants were asked a series of questions regarding M&A transactions. Some of Brad’s insights included the importance of strategic planning and market conditions, establishing an integration plan early in the process to mitigate risks, and working with the client to ensure that all of their operating procedures and contracts are in order before they are exposed to a prospective buyer. When asked about some of the overlooked aspects of the due diligence process, Brad commented from a buyer’s perspective on the regulatory overlay that can result in significant delays, specifically regarding the time sensitive pre-closing approvals and licenses needed prior to closing.
