JENNY MCCAIN OF MAYNARD’S BANKING GROUP FEATURED IN BIRMINGHAM BUSINESS JOURNAL
Maynard Shareholder and Banking Group Co-chair Jenny McCain was featured as a financial industry expert in the September 9, 2016 issue of the Birmingham Business Journal. Entitled "Loan growth driving higher profits at Bham banks," the article addressed Birmingham-area banks' successful second quarter of 2016, with most reporting strengthened assets and deposits as well as increased net income.
BBVA Compass, Bank of Walker County and Bessemer’s First Financial Bank topped the list of performers with at least doubled income compared to the first quarter. When asked what contributed to the banking industry's increase in earnings in the second quarter, McCain said she believes increased commercial and consumer loan demand is a significant factor.
McCain went on to share that there are currently 147 banks on the FDIC's list of "problem banks," which is the lowest number in more than seven years. In comparison, the list hit its peak in 2011 with a total of 888 banks.
The article also attributed the industry's success to factors such as the current lending environment and low interest rates.
