Maynard’s Lauren DeMoss and Leland Murphree were named “Rising Stars of Law” by the Birmingham Business Journal (BBJ) for 2019. The list highlights talented lawyers in the Birmingham area selected for their contributions to their firms and their potential to shape the industry. The BBJ conducted interviews with each of the honorees.

When asked about misconceptions the media promotes regarding lawyers, Lauren DeMoss, a Shareholder in Maynard's Health Care practice says, “A good lawyer is not someone who is argumentative and loud. A good lawyer is an informed, reasonable advocate who understands the client’s business, goals, and objectives.”

When asked about his greatest accomplishment so far in his legal career, Leland Murphree, a Shareholder and Co-Chair of the Bankruptcy and Restructuring Practice Group at Maynard, replied “Bringing an associate and friend into partnership at our firm. Most lawyers don’t understand how much time, effort, and trust we put into each other’s development. That was a moment when I realized I was part of something bigger than myself.”
