MAYNARD ATTORNEY JOSEPH (JODIE) E. SMITH CHAIRS BOND ATTORNEYS CONFERENCE
Maynard & Gale’s Joseph (Jodie) E. Smith recently chaired the National Association of Bond Lawyers’ Tax & Securities Law Institute conference in Boston, MA on March 27-28. The Boston meeting covered the latest developments affecting the municipal bond community. This was the Tax & Securities Law Institute’s twelfth annual conference.
Joseph (Jodie) E. Smith, a Shareholder in Maynard’s Birmingham office since 2002, is the Chair of the firm’s Public Finance practice group. His practice includes work on public offerings of securities, private placements of securities, and restructuring securities previously issued. Mr. Smith has been actively involved in firm leadership throughout his career, including time spent on Maynard’s Strategic Planning Committee. He is also actively engaged in the community, serving as the General Counsel of the Autism Society of Alabama, on the Norton Board of Advisors for Birmingham-Southern College, and on the Board of Directors for the Rotary Club of Shades Valley, where he also is a Past President. Maynard's Public Finance practice group operates at the crossroads of government, business, and finance, offering services in the form of bond counsel, underwriter’s counsel, compliance counseling, and other roles. The group assists clients financing and building schools, courthouses, parks, community centers and recreation facilities, hospitals and nursing homes, single family and multi-family housing, jails, wastewater and solid waste facilities, utilities, and other governmental and nonprofit facilities.
