Maynard Cooper & Gale Expands to Dallas; Bolsters Real Estate and Land Development Practice
Maynard Cooper & Gale has expanded its national geographic footprint to Texas with the addition of a Dallas office and real estate attorneys Matt Hudnall, Karen Cowden, and Allan Katz. The announcement aligns with the firm’s strategic priorities and positive growth trajectory, further establishing Maynard Cooper as a nationally recognized law firm with more than 275 attorneys across 9 offices.
“We are excited to continue our strategic growth into top-tier, high-opportunity markets with the opening of an office in Dallas — the 6th largest legal market in the country — by bringing on a talented team of real estate attorneys who are leaders in their market,” said Jeff Grantham, managing shareholder. “Matt and his team are a great professional and cultural fit with our firm — respected, top attorneys in their field who live our core values of client-centered teamwork.”
Matt Hudnall, Karen Cowden, and Allan Katz, formerly practicing with Hudnall P.C., collectively bring more than 75 years of experience in real estate law, including representation of landowners, investors, and developers in land acquisition and development, entitlement enhancement, dispositions, commercial leasing, financing, joint ventures, and fund formation. The group is the long-standing counsel to Stratford Land and will continue to work with the investment management firm at Maynard Cooper.
“The addition of our newest team members and their deep background in real estate development, acquisitions, dispositions, joint ventures, and fund formation will further solidify the firm’s nationally recognized Real Estate Practice as one of the more comprehensive, experienced legal teams in the country,” said Tom Clark, chair of Maynard Cooper’s Real Estate Practice. “We are thrilled about the firm’s expansion into one of the country’s most dynamic markets, and we look forward to working with Matt, Karen, and Allan as we further expand Maynard Cooper’s real estate offerings.”
Maynard Cooper’s Real Estate Practice represents clients on a wide range of real estate matters, including portfolio and single-asset acquisitions and dispositions, ground-up development, public-private partnerships, commercial leasing, joint ventures, public and private offerings, real estate fund formation, and financings. The firm’s attorneys serve as trusted legal counsel and strategic business advisors across the full range of asset classes, including multifamily, retail, office, healthcare, hospitality, industrial, mixed-use, raw land, and timberland. The practice has been recognized with a prestigious Band 1 ranking in Chambers USA: America’s Leading Lawyers for Business.
“Karen, Allan, and I are proud to join the Maynard Cooper team and establish the firm’s presence in Texas,” said Matt Hudnall, managing shareholder of Maynard Cooper’s newly established Dallas office and former president of Hudnall P.C. “We are excited to join a firm that shares our commitment to client-centric service and is regarded as an industry leader in real estate law.”
With nine offices across five states, Maynard Cooper is the largest law firm based in Alabama. The firm’s presence in Dallas will serve as the latest top-tier business market into which Maynard Cooper has expanded over the past five years, joining San Francisco, New York City, Washington, D.C., and Los Angeles.
