MAYNARD ADDS PATENT ATTORNEY AND SECURITIES & FINANCIAL SERVICES ASSOCIATE TO THE TEAM

Birmingham, AL. Maynard & Gale is delighted to welcome Patent Attorney Paul A. Thatcher and Associate Colin T. Dean. Mr. Thatcher will practice out of the Huntsville office and Mr. Dean out of the Birmingham office.
Mr. Thatcher is joining the Firm as a member of the Intellectual Property (IP) Practice Group. He will assist clients in the evaluation of technology and draft and prosecute patent applications.
Mr. Thatcher’s technical expertise includes digital forensics, graphical user interfaces, databases, artificial intelligence, computer architecture, and integrated circuit design. He has extensive experience researching and writing U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) Actions and Appeal Briefs and writing responses to USPTO rejections.
Mr. Thatcher received his B.S. in Computer Engineering from Brigham Young University and his J.D. from the University of Akron.
Mr. Dean is joining the Firm as a member of the Securities and Financial Services Practice Group. His practice will focus on the representation of financial services companies in litigation and arbitrations nationwide.
Mr. Dean was recognized as a 2019 Rising Star by Super Lawyers for his work as a trial lawyer. In addition to his work in litigation, Mr. Dean also provides strategic, proactive counsel to companies in heavily-regulated industries, with particular expertise in the financial services and mortgage banking sectors. He regularly assists his clients with operational compliance with state and federal regulations, including the Telephone Consumer Practice Act (TCPA), Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA), Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act (RESPA), and Truth in Lending Act (TILA).
Mr. Dean received his J.D. magna cum laude from the University of Alabama School of Law where he was also the Senior Notes Editor of The Alabama Law Review and a Campbell Moot Court board member. Mr. Dean received his B.S. in Public Relations from the University of Florida.
