MAYNARD CONTINUES GROWTH MOMENTUM WITH ADDITION OF FIVE LATERAL CORPORATE ATTORNEYS
Birmingham, AL. Maynard & Gale is pleased to welcome to its Birmingham office Shareholders Matthew A. Aiken, Michel M. Marcoux and Kimberly L. Hager, and Associates Hansen Babington and Michael Evans. They join Maynard’s Corporate Section as members of the firm’s Securities & Tax and Real Estate practice groups.

A seasoned corporate and securities lawyer, Matt Aiken brings over 20 years of experience representing both domestic and international private equity funds, as well as serving as lead counsel in public and private offerings of debt and equity securities, mergers, acquisitions, joint ventures, resyndications, and other development-related activities. A significant portion of his practice involves handling large scale real estate financings, acquisitions, and dispositions. Matt earned his J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center and his B.A. from the University of Virginia.
Michel Marcoux’s practice focuses on counseling clients with respect to capital markets and mergers and acquisitions, and he joins the over 30 lawyers in Maynard’s Corporate, Securities & Tax Practice who focus primarily on mergers and acquisitions. Michel has handled a variety of merger, acquisition, and joint venture transactions for clients, particularly those in the heavily regulated healthcare and financial services sectors. Having also represented issuers, broker-dealers, registered investment advisers, and other venture capital and private equity investors with respect to private offerings of equity and debt securities, Michel routinely advises clients regarding securities compliance and regulatory matters. He received his J.D. from the University of Alabama School of Law and a B.A. from Washington & Lee University.
Kim Hager brings a broad range of transactional experience to Maynard’s Corporate, Securities & Tax Practice. With a particular concentration in the banking and financial services and real estate sectors, Kim has handled numerous public and private offerings of debt and equity securities, mergers, acquisitions, joint ventures, and other development-related business ventures. She also has experience representing lenders and borrowers in real estate and lending transactions. Kim earned her J.D. from the University of Alabama School of Law and her B.A. from the University of Alabama.
Hansen Babington also joins Maynard’s Corporate, Securities & Tax Practice. He has experience counseling clients, ranging from private equity funds to privately-held companies to non-profit groups, on all types of transactional matters including public and private offerings of debt and equity, mergers and acquisitions, and real estate development. He has a particular practice emphasis on the use of alternative equity financing such a tax credits and EB-5 in real estate development transactions, and he does a significant amount of work in the affordable housing space representing developers, indicators, and equity investors. Hansen is a graduate from the University of Alabama School of Law, and he received his B.A. from Washington & Lee University.
Mike Evans has a practice focused on private securities offerings, advising clients on structuring private offerings under complex regulatory schemes. He also has experience counseling clients, including private equity funds, affordable housing developers, real estate investment companies, broker-dealers, and healthcare providers, across a spectrum of transactional matters. Mike received his J.D. from the Washington & Lee University School of Law and his B.A. from the University of Georgia.
