MAYNARD CONTINUES ITS GROWTH WITH ADDITION OF 15 NEW ATTORNEYS

Maynard & Gale is pleased to announce the addition of 15 associates to its ranks. Ten in the group are recent law school graduates from some of the nation’s most prestigious law schools and five are experienced lateral additions. This newest group of attorneys reinforces the depth of services offered by Maynard and the firm’s established position as one of the largest and leading law firms in the region.
Scott Connally joins Maynard’s Insurance and Financial Services Litigation Group as an experienced associate in the firm’s Birmingham office. With five years of experience, Scott’s prior practice involved defending design professionals and contractors in complex construction and environmental disputes throughout the Southeast United States. He clerked for Judges L. Scott Coogler, Abdul K. Kallon, and C. Lynwood Smith of the United States District Court for the Northern District of Alabama. Scott earned his J.D. summa cum laude from the University of Alabama School of Law, where he was a Dean M. Leigh Harrison Scholar, Hugo L. Black Scholar, and a member of the Alabama Law Review and the Bench and Bar Legal Honor Society. While at Alabama, Scott was also named to the Order of the Coif and received the Federal Bar Association Award and the Lanier Ford Shaver & Payne Award. Scott received his B.S. and M.S. in Civil Engineering from the University of Alabama.
Baker Findley brings four years of development and finance experience to Maynard’s Real Estate and Commercial Lending practice groups where he joins the firm’s Birmingham office as a lateral associate He has represented lenders and investors in commercial real estate transactions and handled the drafting and negotiation of loan documents, purchase and sale agreements, closing documents and closing statements. At Maynard, Baker will continue to focus his practice in the areas of commercial real estate development and finance, representing investors, developers, and lenders in all types of transactions. He earned his joint J.D./M.B.A. from Cumberland School of Law and his B.S. in Finance from Auburn University.
Chris Friedman is an experienced litigation associate who joins Maynard as a member of the Securities Litigation Practice. Chris has wide range of experience defending municipalities, publicly traded companies, financial institutions, public utilities, non-profit organizations and quasi-governmental entities in complex litigation, including mass tort, class actions, and civil rights claims. Chris has also counseled government and non-profit entities in areas of risk-mitigation and government relations. He is a graduate of Cumberland School of Law where he earned his J.D. summa cum laude and was a member of the Cumberland Law Review. He received his M.T.S. from Vanderbilt University and B.A. from Birmingham Southern College where he served as President of the Student Government Association. Chris joins the firm’s Birmingham office.
Carling Nguyen has also joined Maynard’s Securities Litigation Practice as Of Counsel. Carling’s prior experience includes handling business litigation matters, with a particular focus on complex commercial litigation and breach of contract disputes. She will be practicing in the firm’s Birmingham office. Carling received her J.D. from Southern Methodist University Dedman School of Law where she was the Managing Editor of the SMU Science and Technology Law Review. A dean’s scholarship recipient for all three years of law school, she also competed on the Thomas Tang International Moot Court Team, winning regionals and advancing to nationals. Carling earned her B.A. from Stanford University, and she has speaking, reading, and writing proficiency in both Vietnamese and Spanish.
Kacey Weddle is an experienced litigation associate and member of both the New York and Alabama Bars. She returned to Alabama after two years of working in Lavin, O’Neil, Cedrone & DiSipio’s New York City office. After serving as a staff attorney at Maynard while studying for the Alabama Bar, Kacey joins the firm’s Litigation Section where she will focus her practice in the areas of product liability, toxic tort and mass tort litigation. While in New York Kacey assisted with the representation of Fortune 500 companies in a broad range of litigation, including matters involving product liability, premises liability, and labor law actions. Kacey received her J.D. from The University of Alabama School of Law and her B.A. magna cum laude from The University of Alabama.
Carmen Chambers joins Maynard’s Birmingham office as an Associate in the Litigation Section and member of the Product Liability Practice. Carmen received her J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center, where she served as the Senior Development Editor of the Georgetown Law Journal. She received her B.A. in Psychology from Yale University
Michal Crowder joins the firm as an Associate in the firm’s Litigation Section. She received her J.D. from Northwestern University School of Law and her M.A. in Political Science from Northwestern University. Michal earned her B.A. in Spanish and Political Science from Williams College. Prior to joining the firm, she served as a law clerk to Judge Abdul K. Kallon in the United States District Court for the Northern District of Alabama. Michal will practice in the firm’s Birmingham office.
Alison Dennis joins the firm’s Huntsville, AL, office as a member of the Litigation Section. Prior to joining Maynard, she also served as a law clerk to Judge Abdul K. Kallon in the United States District Court for the Northern District of Alabama. Alison earned her J.D. magna cum laude from Cumberland School of Law and her B.A. from Birmingham Southern College.
Hannah McGee is a Real Estate Associate in Maynard’s Birmingham office. She earned her J.D. summa cum laude from the University of Alabama School of Law where she served as Executive Editor of Alabama Law Review. Hannah is a recipient of the M. Leigh Harrison Award and the Hugo L. Black Scholar Award and a member of the Order of the Coif. She holds a B.S.B.A. in Economics from Samford University and was named Most Outstanding Student in Economics.
Jennifer Moore joins Maynard’s Litigation Section where will work from the firm’s Birmingham office with the teams of Securities and Insurance and Financial Services litigators. She received her J.D. cum laude from Howard University School of Law where she was a South Texas Mock Trial Semi-Finalist and the Huver I. Brown Trial Advocacy Team Co-Captain. She earned her B.A. from Vanderbilt University.
Riley Murphy is an Associate member of the Real Estate Practice Group. Riley earned his J.D. magna cum laude from the Cumberland School of Law, where he served as Managing Editor of the Cumberland Law Review and was an Abraham Caruthers Legal Research and Writing Fellow. He also holds a B.S.B.A. in Accounting from Auburn University, where he graduated cum laude. Riley will base his practice in the firm’s Birmingham office.
Grace Posey joins the firm’s Birmingham office as an Associate and member of the ERISA & Group Insurance Litigation Practice Group. She received her J.D. from Duke University Law School and holds a B.A. magna cum laude in Spanish and English from Davidson College.
Alyson Smith is an Associate in Maynard’s Huntsville office and a member of the firm’s Litigation Section. Alyson earned her J.D. from Cumberland School of Law, where she served on the American Journal of Trial Advocacy, competed on the Herbert W. Peterson National Trial Team, and was an Executive Director on the Cumberland Trial Advocacy Board. She received her B.A. in English and Political Science from Auburn University.
Jennifer Stanley joins Maynard’s Birmingham office as an Associate member of the Securities and Financial Services Practice Group. Prior to joining Maynard, Jennifer spent a year working as a law clerk for Chief Judge Karon O. Bowdre in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Alabama. Jennifer received her J.D. from Vanderbilt University Law School. She earned her B.A. in English and History cum laude from Vanderbilt University.
Millard V. “M.V.” Young is an Associate in Maynard’s Corporate, Securities & Tax Practice and a member of several related teams including the Mergers & Acquisitions, Securities Regulation and Corporate Finance, and Family Business practices. A member of the firm’s Birmingham office, M.V. is a graduate of the University of Virginia School of Law, where he served as Articles Editor of the Virginia Law & Business Review and participated in the John W. Glynn, Jr. Law & Business Program. He received his B.S. in Economics with a minor in Spanish, summa cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa, from Auburn University.
