Edward S. Sledge IV is a shareholder in Maynard’s Birmingham office. Mr. Sledge practices in the firm's General Litigation, Insurance and Financial Services Litigation and Products Liability practice groups. He has a broad civil trial practice, representing businesses in a wide range of contract, finance, and commercial disputes. He also represents a variety of product manufacturers in personal injury and product liability matters, including medical device manufacturers, a pharmaceutical company, manufactured home producers, engineering and professional services companies, an oil and petroleum company, a crane manufacturer and services company and an industrial pipe and valve manufacturer. Mr. Sledge has represented clients in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Tennessee and Texas, has tried cases to verdict in various state and federal courts in Alabama and in Texas, has arbitrated cases and has handled appeals in the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals, the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals and the Alabama Supreme Court. He is a member of the Defense Research Institute, the American Bar Association, the Alabama State Bar Association, and the Birmingham Bar Association. Kevin C. Gray is a shareholder in Maynard’s Huntsville office. Mr. Gray's practice focuses on representing financial institutions, commercial lenders, landlords, and other secured and unsecured creditors in workouts, commercial litigation, chapters 7, 11 and 13 bankruptcy cases, and adversary proceedings. In addition to workouts, loan restructuring, 363 sales, commercial foreclosures, and collateral liquidations, his experience extends to cash collateral and stay relief proceedings, confirmation litigation and the defense of preference and fraudulent conveyance actions. Mr. Gray also regularly represents developers and financial institutions in commercial lending and real estate transactions. With respect to developers, Mr. Gray is experienced in acquisition, development, land use planning and condominium formation and administration. He also represents lenders in structuring, documenting, securing and closing all types of commercial transactions, including commercial real estate and construction loans, asset-based lines of credit, investment property backed financing and letter of credit financing.
