Maynard Cooper & Gale is pleased to announce that shareholder David M. Smith has been elected to a two-year term as Chair of the Birmingham-Southern College Board of Trustees.  Smith is a 1979 graduate of Birmingham-Southern College.

Elections were held at the annual spring meeting of the Board of Trustees and will be formally approved at the annual meeting of the North Alabama and Alabama-West Florida Conferences of the United States Methodist Church next month. Seven new members were also named to the Board of Trustees, including Carl Crosby, Executive Vice President and Executive Director of employment services at BBVA Compass, Dr. Bruce Irwin, founder and CEO of American Family Care, Tommy Sisson, CPA with Warren Averett, Jim Pierce, partner at Isagenix International, Chad Wachter, manager at Trinity Management & Holding, Richard Yielding, founder of RBY Retail, and Will Goodwyn, Vice Chair, Chief Administrative Officer, and Corporate Secretary of Coca-Cola Bottling Co. United.

Edward F. Leonard III, BSC President, said of the newly elected Board of Trustees, “They all bring energy, talent, and passion for BSC and its mission, and each has a long history of commitment to and support for the college.”

David Smith earned his B.A. magna cum laude from Birmingham-Southern College and his J.D. from Vanderbilt University School of Law.
