MAYNARD SHAREHOLDER JODIE SMITH HEADS NABL SECURITIES LAW & DISCLOSURE COMMITTEE
Maynard & Gale, P.C. shareholder Joseph (Jodie) E. Smith has been named Chair of the Securities Law & Disclosure Committee of the National Association of Bond Lawyers. As Chair of the committee, Smith advises the NABL board of directors on developments in federal securities laws, in addition to developments in disclosure practices relating to municipal securities. On behalf of NABL, he also prepares comment letters, informative memoranda, and other written materials relevant to these developments.
In addition to this new role, Smith serves as an editor of NABL’s Federal Securities Law of Municipal Bonds Deskbook and as a frequent panelist at NABL educational seminars. For the last two years, he served as Vice Chair of the NABL Securities Law & Disclosure Committee.
Smith’s practice areas at Maynard, Cooper & Gale include public finance, securities, healthcare, and general corporate. In his public finance practice, Smith works with government, nonprofit, and for-profit organizations to finance public works and private facilities eligible for tax-exempt financing. In his corporate practice, Smith advises clients on corporate governance, mergers and acquisitions, corporate reorganizations, and joint ventures and partnerships.
The National Association of Bond Lawyers is an organization of approximately 2,800 public finance attorneys that exists to promote the integrity of the municipal securities market by advancing the understanding of and compliance with the laws affecting public finance.
