MAYNARD WELCOMES W. EDWARD BAILEY TO ITS INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY LITIGATION PRACTICE GROUP
Maynard, Cooper & Gale, P.C. is proud to announce the addition of W. Edward Bailey as Of Counsel to the Firm’s Intellectual Property Litigation Practice Group.
W. Edward Bailey has focused his law practice on intellectual property litigation for the last 40 years. His areas of expertise include patents, trademarks and copyrights. Mr. Bailey is an experienced trial lawyer, having tried cases (both jury and bench trials) in numerous jurisdictions throughout the country – he has been involved in cases in more than 25 of the Federal Districts. Mr. Bailey also has had litigation experience in the United States Court of Federal Claims and the International Trade Commission. He is registered to practice in the United States Patent & Trademark Office and has represented clients in contested proceedings in that office. Mr. Bailey graduated from Auburn University with a B.S. in Chemistry. He did graduate work in biochemistry at Vanderbilt University before joining the United States Marine Corps. In 1969 he served as an artillery forward observer in the Republic of Viet Nam. Following his military service, Mr. Bailey graduated from the University of Virginia School of Law in 1973. After graduating from law school, Mr. Bailey served as law clerk to the Honorable Frank H. McFadden, United States District Judge for the Northern District of Alabama and then spent nearly 40 years as a patent litigator in New York. The majority of Mr. Bailey's professional life was spent working on complex patent litigations at Fish & Neave, then one of the largest and most distinguished intellectual property firms in the country. Maynard’s Intellectual Property Group regularly represents clients in matters relating to patents, trademarks, copyrights, trade secrets and unfair competition. Within the Intellectual Property Group, the Firm now has six U.S. Patent attorneys who routinely assist clients with the complex task of securing and maintaining domestic and international patent portfolios of their most important innovations. The broad-based technical expertise of the Firm’s patent attorneys covers a wide array of subject matters including electrical engineering, computer science, mechanical engineering, chemical engineering, metallurgy, materials science, and life science technologies.
