Retired Lieutenant General Anthony R. "Tony" Jones provides consulting services to Maynard Cooper's Government Defense and Aviation Strategies Group.
In addition, as part of the Government Solutions group, General Jones uses his breadth of international military and aerospace experience to provide unique industry-speciﬁc and leadership consulting services to clients. Maynard Cooper’s Government Solutions group is one of the most robust of its kind outside of Washington, D.C. and General Jones’ knowledge of the government, defense, and aviation industry, combined with his extraordinary leadership skills and insight, presents a unique resource to all of our clients, especially our Government Solutions clients.
Prior to joining Maynard Cooper, General Jones served as Vice President of Training Systems and Services (TSS) for Boeing in St. Louis, Missouri, before being named Vice President and Site Executive at Boeing in Huntsville. In his Huntsville position, General Jones oversaw all aspects of Boeing’s operations, including aviation and missile defense; space and homeland security; leading over 2,700 employees engaged in critical programs such as the Ground-based Midcourse Defense program; Arrow Weapon System, Patriot Advanced Capability-3 seeker programs; Boeing’s Rotorcraft Support business; Boeing Research and Technology headquarters and labs; the Boeing Design Center, which provides engineering support to commercial and commercial-derivative airplanes; and the Exploration Launch Systems Division supporting the Space Launch System and the International Space Station programs.
In the U.S. Army, General Jones served in a wide range of operational and management leadership positions, including extensive aviation experience in command assignments in peace and war, and Special Operations. He served as the Assistant Division Commander in Bosnia, and later in the position of Chief of Staff at the U.S. Army Headquarters in Europe. Stateside, he served in the Pentagon as Director of Current Operations for HQ U.S. Army, and in the J3, Joint Staff, as the Deputy Director of Operations. He was also the Commander of the Army Aviation Warfighting Center at Fort Rucker, Alabama, and Deputy Commanding General and Chief of Staff for the U.S. Army Training and Doctrine Command, Fort Monroe, Virginia.
General Jones received his Bachelor’s degree from Indiana University, where he was commissioned as a Distinguished Military Graduate from the ROTC program. He earned his Master's in System Management from the University of Southern California. General Jones was inducted into the U.S. Army Aviation Hall of Fame in 2011.
