Carling is an Associate in the Firm’s Litigation Section and a member of the Securities Litigation Practice Group.
Carling’s current practice primarily focuses on defending brokerage firms nationwide against claims brought by customers, primarily in securities arbitrations before the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA). Carling has represented broker-dealers in customer disputes alleging unsuitability, misrepresentation, selling away, and unauthorized trading, to name a few. Prior to joining Maynard Cooper, Carling was a litigator with a practice focused on complex commercial litigation. She also gained experience interning with the Honorable Gena Slaughter of the 191st Texas Civil District Court.
Carling received her J.D. from Southern Methodist University Dedman School of Law where she was the Managing Editor of the SMU Science and Technology Law Review. A dean’s scholarship recipient for all three years of law school, she also competed on the Thomas Tang International Moot Court Team, winning regionals and advancing to nationals. Carling earned her B.A. from Stanford University and has basic proficiency in speaking, reading, and writing in both Vietnamese and Spanish.
