Ethan is a Shareholder in the Litigation Section at Maynard Cooper. He focuses his practice on commercial and insurance litigation, and has litigated matters in 24 states.
Ethan has represented business clients, both as a defendant and a plaintiff, in matters including the following:
- M&A litigation;
- corporate governance;
- shareholder derivative suits;
- shareholder appraisal proceedings;
- business torts;
- business divorces;
- supply chain disputes;
- license agreement disputes;
- trademark and trade secrets litigation; and
- RICO violations
In addition to handling litigation at various stages, Ethan advises business clients on the front end to mitigate litigation exposure, whether through insurance, transaction terms and conditions, governing agreements, or otherwise.
On the insurance side, Ethan regularly represents insurers across the country in individual and multi-party litigation involving insurance sales practices, STOLI matters, insurance fraud, coverage disputes, and bad-faith claims. He also advises clients on insurance compliance and coverage issues.
Ethan has been rated AV Preeminent by Martindale-Hubbell, the highest rating awarded for legal ability and professional ethics, since his seventh year of practice. Ethan regularly is recognized in Alabama Super Lawyers and Mid-South Super Lawyers, and was recently included in the Super Lawyers Top Attorney List for Business Litigation in Alabama.
He received his J.D. summa cum laude from the University of Alabama School of Law and holds a B.A. from Vanderbilt University, where he was a letterman on the football team.
