Jon is a Shareholder and a member of the Firm’s Intellectual Property Practice as well as several of the Firm’s industry-specific practice groups including Aerospace, Autonomy and Robotics, Defense and Aviation Strategies, Fintech, and Internet of Things.
With more than 25 years of experience, Jon works on behalf of clients to secure and protect their patents, copyrights, trademarks, and trade secrets. His current practice is primarily focused on patent and trademark prosecution, and he has knowledge and experience across a wide range of other intellectual property matters including licensing, technology transfer, and disputes involving intellectual property assets, including the Inter Partes Review process for reviewing the validity of patents at the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office.
His work has benefited companies of all sizes, from small start-ups seeking advice on how to manage a budding portfolio of intellectual property to Fortune 100 companies with goals as unique as the intellectual property they own.
Jon’s knowledge of IP and the technologically advanced clients he works for is rooted in the dual degrees he holds in electrical and aerospace engineering. His work covers a wide range of industries and technologies including computer graphics, software, microprocessing, computer hardware, electronics, electro-mechanical systems, cameras, microfabrication, telecommunications, internet of things (IoT) and data networking, fintech, radar, autonomous vehicles, and aerospace.

Jon received his J.D. from the University of Alabama School of Law. He holds a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from the University of Alabama at Birmingham and a bachelor’s degree in aerospace engineering from Auburn University.
