Jon is a Shareholder and serves as Chair of the Intellectual Property and Technology practice at Maynard Cooper.
He brings more than 15 years of experience working on behalf of clients to secure and protect their patents, copyrights, trademarks, and trade secrets. His current practice is primarily focused on patent and trademark prosecution and he has knowledge and experience across a wide range of other intellectual property matters including licensing, technology transfer, and disputes involving intellectual property assets, including the emerging Inter Partes Review process.
His work has benefited companies of all sizes, from small start-ups seeking advice on how to manage a budding portfolio of intellectual property to Fortune 100 companies with goals unique as the intellectual property they own.
Jon’s knowledge of IP and the technologically advanced clients he works for is rooted in the dual degrees he holds in electrical and aerospace engineering. His work covers a wide range of industries and technologies including computer graphics, software, microprocessing, computer hardware, electronics, electro-mechanical systems, cameras, microfabrication, telecommunications, and data networking.

He received his J.D. from the University of Alabama School of Law. He holds a B.S.E.E. from the University of Alabama at Birmingham and a B.A.E. from Auburn University.
