Jon Sprole is an accomplished leader having served in General Counsel and executive roles within several significant corporations, including GE Capital and Bristol-Myers Squibb. As a member of the Firm’s Corporate Practice Group, Jon advises clients and their senior leadership and board members on strategic, legal, and regulatory matters, including mergers and acquisitions and corporate governance. Immediately prior to joining Maynard Cooper, Jon served as Executive Vice President, General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer for Remington Outdoor Company, Inc., a leading global manufacturer of firearms, ammunition and related products. Jon is instrumental in the growth and expansion of the Firm’s Firearms practice and industry focus.
Jon’s experience includes management and oversight of product liability and class action litigations and product safety recalls. He has managed commercial agreements and disputes, as well as labor and employment and union activities. Jon has assisted clients on global regulatory compliance (including ATF and ITAR regulations) and global policy development and training. He has successfully worked with the Federal Monitor under a Deferred Prosecution Agreement, assisted in achieving a civil settlement in a long standing investigation by the U.S. Attorney and negotiated a Corporate Integrity Agreement with the Office of Inspector General of HHS. He has implemented global compliance auditing programs, established global Privacy and Environmental programs, conducted investigations of all compliance related matters, supervised ethics training, developed industry leading sales compliance training programs, and assisted in developing FCPA policies and training.
While working in the financial industry, Jon provided legal oversight for overall investment, financing, and dispositions of private investment portfolios as well as administrative and legal responsibility for management company activities. He managed the overall transaction process including CA/NDAs, oversight of legal and risk due diligence, structure and documentation, and management of outside counsel.
With his extensive business knowledge and hands on experience in the corporate sector, Jon assists and advises the firm’s clients in all areas of corporate, securities law and business management.

Jon's corporate background also includes a stint as General Counsel and Chief Administrative Officer for Versa Capital Management, Inc., Vice President and Deputy General Counsel for Bristol-Myers Squibb Company, General Counsel and Managing Director for GE Equity/GE Capital Corporation, and Associate General Counsel for GE Investment Corporation.
Jon earned his J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law, and he holds an A.B. from Stanford University. Upon graduating from Law School, he was an associate in the Corporate departments of the Kemp Smith LLP firm in El Paso, TX and the Mellick & Sexton firm in Connecticut.
