Katie is Of Counsel and a member of the Product Liability, Real Estate & Title Insurance Litigation and General Litigation practices at Maynard Cooper.
The bulk of her experience comes in the area of product liability, particularly asbestos litigation. She places a high priority on her communication with clients and values the interaction she has with them. Her skills as a communicator serve her well in her role as coordinating counsel for a large multi-national company’s ongoing asbestos litigation. She has successfully obtained several summary judgments related to asbestos litigation in Alabama on behalf of her clients.
Katie is also a member of the firm’s federal black lung litigation practice and has defended coal companies before The Department of Labor’s Office of Administrative Law Judges, the Benefits Review Board, and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit.
In addition to her products and environmental work, Katie also practices in the areas of commercial litigation, insurance coverage and title work, with specific experience in resolving real estate title defects for title insurance companies.
Katie received her J.D. cum laude from the University of Alabama School of Law. She holds a B.A. summa cum laude from the University of Alabama.
