Rich's Profile

Rich is an Associate in Maynard Cooper’s Real Estate Practice Group. He represents Fortune 500 companies, other public and privately-held companies, commercial banks, and investors in all types of real estate matters in markets throughout the United States. Rich’s national practice has a particular emphasis on leasing, in which he represents both landlords and tenants across all asset classes, including retail, medical, office, and industrial properties. Rich has also been a lecturer in the area of commercial real estate, and he recently served as a speaker at the National Business Institute’s Ultimate Guide to Commercial Real Estate Law.

Rich graduated magna cum laude from Hampden-Sydney College, where he was a three-year captain of the men’s varsity tennis team and named as the Conference Rookie Player of the Year as a freshman and as the Conference Player of the Year as a senior. He also graduated cum laude from the University of Georgia School of Law, where he was an editor of, and published in, the Georgia Law Review.

  • Represented Fortune 500 company in $60 million sale and partial leaseback of a 140,000 square foot office tower in Miami, Florida
  • Represented publicly traded global logistics company in lease of 160,000 square feet of industrial space in Houston, Texas
  • Representing multinational private equity company in various tenant dispute and workout matters involving a 344,000 square foot shopping center in Tuscaloosa, Alabama
  • Represented world’s largest security technology company in lease of approximately 30,000 square feet of flex space in Ontario, Canada
  • Represented one of the country’s largest residential home builders-developers in various portfolio acquisitions in Alabama, Colorado, Kansas, Kentucky, Missouri, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Tennessee
  • Represented publicly traded financial institution in lease and subsequent sublease of office space in San Francisco, California
  • Represented major for-profit education company in lease of approximately 75 campuses nationwide
  • Represented publicly traded dialysis service company in acquisition, disposition, and subsequent leaseback of three medical clinics located in Alabama, Maine, and West Virginia
