SHAREHOLDER MICHEL MARCOUX NAMED TO BIRMINGHAM’S TOP 40 UNDER 40

Maynard & Gale is pleased to announce Shareholder Michel Marcoux has been selected by the Birmingham Business Journal as one of the city’s “Top 40 Under 40” for 2018. These awards are now in their 34th year and serve to honor up-and-coming professionals in Birmingham’s business community who have distinguished themselves in their respective fields before age 40.
Michel is a member of the firm’s Corporate, Securities and Healthcare Practices. In his almost 10 years of practice, Michel has established himself as a leading transactional attorney for some of Birmingham’s largest companies as well as businesses on a national scale. His talents have been recognized by Mid-South Super Lawyers who named him a “Rising Star” in 2016. Somewhat unique to the legal profession is Michel’s four years of experience in Washington, D.C. where he worked as a reporter and financial editor for The Gray Sheet, a national publication covering the medial devices industry worldwide. In this position, Michel covered healthcare events throughout the U.S. ranging from conferences for biotech and medical device start-ups in California to financial conferences for large publicly-traded pharmaceutical companies in New York. His experience in the healthcare sector – both working as an editor and a younger lawyer representing a variety of healthcare payors, providers and vendors – has helped him become a sought-after talent for businesses operating both within and outside of that sector. When asked about working with Michel, one client has referred to him as “a go-to for us in the competitive corporate transactional arena.”
Beyond his work with Maynard and his clients, Michel is an advocate for his community and an active member of several organizations. He recently served on the Innovation Depot Board of Directors where he had the privilege of taking a leadership role on several major initiatives for the organization. Michel has also been selected to serve on the 2017-2018 Alabama Leadership Initiative, a six-month program bringing together some of the state’s top emerging leaders. Further, Michel serves as the Vice Chair of the Alabama State Bar Health Law Section where he has spearheaded several successful programs. Michel is a cum laude graduate of The University of Alabama School of Law as well as a cum laude graduate of Washington and Lee University.
