Jon’s Profile

Jon is an associate in Maynard Cooper’s Corporate Securities and Tax Practice Group. His practice focuses on federal, state and local tax matters, mergers and acquisitions, business planning, and economic development.

As both a Certified Public Accountant and attorney, Jon has extensive experience in assisting businesses and individuals with federal and state income tax matters. Using his knowledge and understanding of the various industry sector intricacies, he offers strategic direction with tax planning for a broad range of business clients. He helps them to resolve complex tax issues and avoid costly mistakes. In addition to his experience handling tax matters, Jon provides general corporate governance advice to business owners and management, including guidance regarding choice of entity decisions, securities regulations, and tactical restructuring decisions. Jon enjoys helping business owners navigate the various legal and tax issues that arise throughout the life of their business.

Prior to law school and joining the Maynard Cooper team, Jon worked as an accountant in Birmingham for almost six years. He received his B.S. in Business Administration and his Masters of Accountancy from Samford University. After graduating from Cumberland School of Law where he was Associate Editor of the Cumberland Law Review, he received his Master of Laws in Taxation from the Levin College of Law at the University of Florida. Jon is also a graduate of Leadership Tuscaloosa, class of 2015-2016.
